ArmInfo.Moldova decided to join the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB). Elena Gorelova, the Adviser to the President of the Republic of Moldova on Economic Issues announced this on November 29 in Moscow at the 14th international conference "Eurasian Economic Integration".
However, she recalled that Moldova is a small state with a small but open economy. She recalled that Moldova is an observer in the Eurasian Economic Union, while, as a flaw, the structure indicated that the depth of the projects implemented within the project was not indicated.
She also informed that Moldova could participate in projects related to food safety, light industry, and the agricultural sector. "We could effectively participate in the above areas," Gorelova said, noting that the republic could participate in digital projects.
<How, how deep, in which projects we can participate. This is an open question for Moldova, and the answer to which we would like to hear>, said the Advisor to the President of Moldova, she also named the exclusivity of the republic because of its geographical location and the presence of the Association Agreement. Gorelova believes that the development prospects within the EAEU are very promising and expressed hope that the decision on Moldova's accession to the EDB will be positive.
The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is an international financial organization designed to promote the economic growth of participating states, expand trade and economic relations between them and develop integration processes in the Eurasian space through investment activities. The Bank was established on the basis of an interstate agreement signed on January 12, 2006 by authorized representatives of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2009, the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Tajikistan, in 2010 - the Republic of Belarus, and in 2011 - the Kyrgyz Republic became full members of the Bank. EDB is open to new members. States and international organizations become its members by decision of the Council of the Bank after they accede to the Agreement on the Establishment of the EDB and pay in accordance with the established procedure for acquired shares of the Bank. It should be noted that the Bank is implementing 14 projects in Armenia in the amount of $ 224.2 million. The contribution of Armenia to the Bank's capital is $ 100 thousand.
