ArmInfo.A meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy of Armenia on December 20, at which the results of current agricultural programs were summarized and new initiatives planned for 2020 were discussed.
As the press service of the Ministry reports, at the beginning of the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, chairing the meeting, Artak Kamalyan briefly touched upon state assistance programs launched in 2019 aimed at ensuring high efficiency of agricultural activities and stimulating the further development of the agricultural sector. Among the new initiatives, the Deputy Minister attached particular importance to the program for the development of sheep and goat husbandry for 2019-2023, the program for the development of livestock production for 2019-2024, the construction of small and medium-sized smart farms, and the introduction of greenhouses.
Particular attention was paid to the Sustainable Development Strategy and the Action Plan of the Republic of Armenia, as well as ongoing work on projects supported by international organizations. In his speech, the Deputy Minister also mentioned the changes made to a number of existing programs that would enhance their effectiveness.
Among the programs developed and planned by the ministry in the near future, Kamalyan, in particular, mentioned the numbering and registration of cattle, which aims to create an accurate database on the number of cattle, monitor its movement and improve traceability, as well as ensure food safety products.
Stressing the importance of teamwork, the Deputy Minister expressed confidence that joint efforts of the ministry's departments and coordinated work would achieve better results in the field of agriculture.
