ArmInfo. As of December 1, the export of agricultural products (fresh and canned) amounted to 141.2 thousand tons, slightly declining year on year due to a decrease in the apricot crop. Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Artak Kamalyan announced this on December 24 during a press conference.
<This year, the apricot harvest decreased by almost 45%, amounting to 60 thousand tons, and therefore the export volumes decreased from 51 thousand tons a year earlier to 31 thousand tons this year, "he said. However, as the deputy minister noted, excluding apricot and plum, the export of all remaining crops showed an average growth of 1.7-2 times. In particular, as of the reporting date, Armenia increased the export of cucumbers 3.5 times, 2 times - eggplant, mushrooms, 2.8 times - strawberries, 86% - mulberries and figs, 81% - king, 43% - pepper, 21% - apples, 9% - onions, 8% - peaches, etc.
With regards to tomatoes, Kamalyan indicated that 24 thousand tons were exported this year, against 37 tons last year, of which about 16 thousand tons were re-exported. Therefore, as Kamalyan noted, 24 thousand tons should be compared with 21 thousand tons, which also indicates a positive trend in terms of tomato exports.
It was noted that the geography of export markets for agricultural production is still not discussed.
