ArmInfo. "The issue of deciding whether any airline can start its activity in Armenia or not should be considered by the Civil Aviation Committee within 90 days." Tatevik Revazyan, head of the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia stated, answering to the question by ArmInfo correspondent about at what stage is the process with the emergence of the local national air carrier in the country. Revazyan stressed that this is a new airline. "Representatives of this airline have already submitted an application, which we, according to the law, must consider within 90 days. And this period begins from the very moment we have all the necessary documents. However, at the moment we have not complete a package of documents, and we can't make a decision on this issue. Therefore, I can't say when we can make an appropriate decision, "said the head of the State Administration of Civil Aviation.
During the press conference, Revazyan also touched on a statement by the Civil Aviation Committee, in which the latter recommended airlines not to fly over Iran and Iraq. "If we see any threat or danger to the flight, then the Civil Aviation Committee should notify the airline about this, but the decision is made by the company, not us. In connection with the disaster that happened near Tehran, there is an investigation, and therefore the Committee obliged to declare the existing threat, "she stressed.
It should be noted that on January 12, Armenia Airways on its Facebook page announced the cancellation of the Yerevan-Tehran-Yerevan Sunday flight for security reasons. The airline's statement also states that passengers can exchange tickets at the airline's main office or contact sales agents.
To recall, the Civil Aviation Committee published a statement on the eve of which it called for airlines registered in Armenia to take into account the safety risk assessment recommendations of the EU Flight Safety Risk Assessment Group and to consider the possibility of temporarily bypassing Iraqi and Iranian airspace at all altitudes.
