ArmInfo. Diversion of statistics from the reality can play a cruel joke with people publishing figures. Secretary of the Citizen's Decision party, economist Suren Sahakyan, expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"Our government and Prime Minister Pashinyan, in particular, quite often resort to statistical data in order to demonstrate the degree of effectiveness of their own work. At first glance, this is quite normal, however, there are worrying trends. First of all, given the some doubtfulness of the statistical data and the diversion of published figures from the reality that is already apparent today, "he said.
According to the expert, it is for this reason that various protests are interpreted and commented by the authorities as manifestations of a counter-revolution, a conspiracy. And instead of delving into, listening to, raising the problems of people, the subject of discussion is the garbage left by them after the protest. It is here, according to Sahakyan, that the main question arises - if according to statistics everything is so good, why are people protesting? According to him, it is the prime minister creates a great dependence on numbers. So, in response to any allegations of corruption, a "shadow" in the economy, Pashinyan immediately presents statistics on receipts from cash registers. It is here that the economist sees the main cause for alarm. According to Sahakyan, in the conditions of the onset of the period, for a variety of reasons, when the numbers will no longer look so rosy, the need for fraud may well arise.
"It is no secret that governments and especially top officials of the state usually get what they want. It will take a certain figure and they will get it. First, indicators will go to the second and third plan, and then false numbers will appear. And it's absolutely not necessary that it be accompanied by a prime minister's order. This will not happen, because subordinates will do everything to anticipate this order. It simply will not be needed, "Sahakyan summed up.
