As the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia reports, water pipelines with a length of 80 km will be rehabilitated within the framework of the project. The total cost of the program will be 2.5 billion drams. The project will be implemented on the credit resources of the Eurasian Development Bank and co-financing of 10% from the communities of the republic. In particular, the irrigation systems of the communities of Shahumyan, Kanachut, Norashen, Nerkin Dvin, Aygestan, Aygepat, Vostan, Sisavan, Vanashen, Dashtakar, Noyakert, Ararat, Aygavan, Zangakatun and others will be modernized. Work will begin in the coming months.
Earlier, ArmInfo reported that the Eurasian Development Bank, from the funds of the Anti-Crisis Fund of the Eurasian Economic Community, will provide Armenia with a loan of $ 40 million for the implementation of the program to modernize the irrigation system. The main goal of the program is to improve the irrigation system and increase the capacity of water users. The program provides for increasing the efficiency of the irrigation system of Armenia, increasing the area of irrigated land, and improving the quality of system management. The program consists of four main components - the transfer of mechanical water releases to gravity, the replacement of old water pipelines with new ones, the modernization of on-net facilities and the improvement of the institutional capacity of water users. The implementation of the program will contribute to the development of agriculture, the creation of new jobs and the growth of agricultural exports.
