ArmInfo. In summer, a regular meeting of the intergovernmental commission on the development of trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Germany will be held in Berlin. The details of the upcoming meeting were discussed during the meeting of Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Varos Simonyan on February 10 with Deputy Ambassador of German Federal Republic to Armenia Klaus Wendelberger.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia GIZ Office Armenia Country Director Anne Dorit Kempa, Senior Project Coordinator at KfW Bank in Armenia Bella Andriasyan, and other officials also attended the meeting.
According to the source, during the meeting Klaus Wendelberger handed over to Varos Simonyan the official proposals of the German side on financial and technical cooperation in connection with the regular meeting of the Armenian-German intergovernmental commission in Berlin July 21-22. He also informed that in order to discuss the details of the upcoming meeting, an official delegation of the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany is expected to visit Armenia in the near future. The Deputy Ambassador noted the readiness of the German government to continue to assist the Armenian government in the reform process, especially in the economic sector, paying particular attention to the development of the "green economy", and highlighting the SME sector and tourism.
Varos Simonyan, as co-chair of the Armenian-German intergovernmental commission on the Armenian side, accepted the German proposal on the date of the meeting and assured that the Armenian side would prepare a package of questions for discussion during the visit of the German delegation. The deputy minister thanked the German government for the active support of Armenia for many years, emphasizing the importance of this support for the development of the country's economy. He also expressed hope that the next meeting of the Armenian-German intergovernmental commission will contribute to the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Senior Project Coordinator at KfW Bank in Armenia Bella Andriasyan briefly presented the Bank's activities in Armenia, emphasizing its participation in agricultural development programs, especially in the field of agricultural insurance. The bank also supported the establishment of the Tumo Center in Berlin.
In turn, Anne Dorit Kempa highlighted the ongoing work in the field of SMEs and tourism.
At the end of the meeting, Varos Simonyan informed the guests that the EU-Armenia investment forum would be held this fall and invited the German side to participate in the event both at the level of interested state structures and private companies and organizations.
