Volume of export of tobacco products increased in Armenia with a  decrease in their sales in the domestic market

ArmInfo. Within export, tobacco products produced in Armenia took the second place after products of the mining industry. This is evidenced by the data of the  Center for Economic Development Initiatives, which conducted an  analysis of the production of tobacco products in 2018-2019.

According to the source, the volume of export of tobacco products  increased by 14.4%, and its sales in Armenia decreased by 0.2%,  partly due to an increase in excise tax. The priority export  directions of this sector of the economy are, first of all, markets.

Syria and Iraq, where the volume of deliveries increased by 16.2%  with a decrease in exports to the markets of the CIS countries by  21.1%.

In 2019, the volume of tobacco production in Armenia increased by  6.8% compared to 2018. At the same time, sales volumes exceeded  production volumes, recording growth of 10%. That is, the product  produced in 2018 was sold in 2019.

As a result, the Grand Tobacco LLC headed the list of the first 1000  largest taxpayers in 2019, ahead of the permanent leader of the last  1.5 years - Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Plant CJSC. In 2019, taxes  paid by Grand Tobacco LLC increased by 35.1% - up to 57 billion  drams. In 2019, International Masis Tabak became the fourth largest  taxpayer, and in 2018 was the 9th. The taxes paid by the latter  increased by 47% and amounted to about 19.2 billion drams. Another  cigarette manufacturer, SPS Cigaronne, is 58th in the list of 1000  largest taxpayers in 2019 instead of the 80th in 2018.
