This was stated at a press conference by the governor of Kotayk region Romanos Petrosyan. He noted that most of these programs have already been implemented, as a result of which in 2019 over 1,500 new jobs were created in the region. Petrosyan added that this year it is planned to commission 14 pre-school institutions for 1,500 children, as well as 5 culture houses. As a result, about 200 jobs will be created. The main driving areas of the regional economy according to the governor remain tourism, renewable energy, greenhouses, diamond processing and the production of building materials. ''We strive to diversify the tourist flows of the region, which today are mainly focused on Tsaghkadzor, where more than half of all Kotayk hotels operate. Under discussion is the implementation of a major investment project in Lernanist, where it is planned to build a winter tourist center.
As for the field of renewable energy, it is planned to carry out a project with the attraction of foreign investments in the amount of 195 million drams. In addition, greenhouse areas will be enlarged from the current 125 to 145 hectares. Products will be exported to the EAEU market and to the Arab countries'', the governor emphasized. According to him, the plans also include the completion of the construction of the Yeghvard section of the North- South highway, with a length of more than 12 km, as well as the implementation of road projects in 6 communities of the region.
