ArmInfo. Gazprom Armenia CJSC applied to the Public Services Regulatory Commission to review gas tariffs.
According to the company, Gazprom Armenia and Transgaz are proposing to change tariffs for consumers from July 1, 2020. We are talking about raising the tariff for every 1000 cubic meters of natural gas from 100 thousand drams to 135.9 thousand drams for subscribers who have the right for family or social benefits and annually consume up to 600 cubic meters of gas.
Meanwhile, for those subscribers who consume up to 10 thousand cubic meters of gas annually, it is proposed to reduce the tariff for every 1000 cubic meters of natural gas from 139 thousand drams to 135.9 thousand drams.
For thermal power plants producing electric energy, the tariff will change from August 1, 2020.
Meanwhile, at the request of ArmInfo regarding tariff changes, the company noted that there would be no comments.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, on behalf of the Government, wrote to the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, in writing with a proposal to start new negotiations on changing the price of gas supplied to Armenia. This appeal is due to the negative impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic on the socio-economic development of countries. It was also voiced a proposal to establish the possibility of settlements for imported gas in national currencies. We add that the Armenian government subsidizes the gas tariff for socially vulnerable segments of the population.
