Ucom will continue working  with new CEO

ArmInfo. The Board of Governors of one of the leading telecommunication companies in Armenia, Ucom, dismissed Hayk Yesayan, General Director of the  company. This is stated in a Ucom official statement released after  the Council meeting.

In particular, it was noted that in the future, to ensure smooth  operation, together with the new CEO, the company plans to make  investments and attract new opportunities. The company has already  begun to resolve the situation, which does not provide for a  reduction in the staff of employees, especially in the conditions  created in the country when communication plays an extremely  important role. However, it was noted that Ucom will continue to be  an Armenian telecom operator.

At the same time, the company expressed gratitude to the former CEO  Hayk Yesayan for his contribution to the history of the creation of  the Armenian telecom, expressing the hope that the latter, as a  shareholder, will continue to share his experience in the Board of  Governors of Ucom.

The candidacy of the new director is not reported. Recall that on the  eve of the media it was actively disseminating information from the  former management of the company about the dismissal of more than 500  employees who allegedly wrote resignations in connection with the  dismissal of Hayk Yesayan, who, together with his brother, owns a  5.94% stake in the company. However, this morning the media received  a letter from Ucom employees, in which the latter refute information  about the mass dismissal of personnel.  Hayk Yesayan, in a letter to  ArmInfo, explained the reason for his departure by the  misunderstanding that developed between him and Gurgen Khachatryan  (head of the board of directors of the company). It is noted that  Yesayan offered to buy shares in the company belonging to him and his  brother, or to buy shares from other co-owners for 22 billion drams,  which he was refused.

Moreover, Yesayan said that his decision to leave the company was  motivated by the fact that his candidacy was not considered as the  head of the company after the possible merger of Ucom and . Between the Galaxy group, which includes Ucom, and the  international company VEON, negotiations are ongoing on the future  development of the combined company. The merger case is pending in  the antitrust department of Armenia.
