ArmInfo. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan introduced the newly elected chairman Martin Galstyan to the staff of the Central Bank of Armenia.
Thanking Artur Javadyan for his work and contribution, the Prime Minister wished success to Martin Galstyan in the new responsible post. In particular, he shared his impressions over 2 years of close work with the Central Bank: <A fairly good team has been formed that works on the stability of the banking system, which is one of the most important achievements, despite all the condemnations>.
As the most important challenge for the Central Bank at the moment, the head of the Cabinet defined the increase in financial literacy of citizens. <The main task of the Central Bank is to make the context of relations with customers more constructive, based on dialogue, which is one of prerequisites for sustainable development>, said Pashinyan.
In addition, the Prime Minister said that there was an agreement with Artur Javadyan to continue cooperation. In particular, as he further noted, Javadyan will be involved in the process of developing economic policy, analyzing economic issues and involving international experts in certain economic processes. "There are already certain projects the implementation of which will be a great success for the development of the country's economic thought," he said.
Pashinyan expressed hope that with the assumption of the post of the head of the Central Bank by Martin Galstyan, will open a new page for the financial system of the Republic of Armenia, which will be based on the best practices of previous years and bring new experience, new successes, increasing public confidence in the financial and banking systems.
In turn, Artur Javadyan thanked the prime minister for such a high assessment, stressing that the formed team in the Central Bank is able to ensure financial stability and price stability, and in the conditions of the crisis caused by coronavirus, it will be able to create a stable macroeconomic environment. Addressing Martin Galstyan, he noted: <The post of the chairman of the Central Bank is one of the most important in the country. Having sufficient experience and knowledge, and being part of the team, I am sure you will be able to successfully solve all the problems that face the financial system of Armenia>.
The newly elected Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia assured that the work will be continuous in terms of overcoming the challenges and solving the problems posed to the banking system by the public. At the same time, Galstyan emphasized that the Central Bank will deepen cooperation with the RA government for the benefit of the public and the nation. "And the most important thing I would like to say is that we will make every effort to ensure macro stability in Armenia, which will allow the government to implement all the planned programs," he concluded.
To recall, the "My Step" faction proposed Martin Galstyan as the new head of the Central Bank of Armenia. REFERENCE: Martin Artashesovich Galstyan was born in 1978. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of YSU, graduate school, Ph.D. In the late 2000s, he studied at the School of Management. John F. Kennedy of Harvard University, receiving a master's degree in government. He completed several retraining and advanced training courses in the areas of financial market analysis, financial planning and strategy, monetary policy theory, economic theory and practice.
M. Galstyan has experience teaching at the Business School of the American University of Armenia on the subject of industry and competitive analysis. He teaches at AUA the subject <Competitiveness and Clusters>. At the same university, he lectures on the licensed program of Harvard Business School. In 2015, M. Galstyan was recognized as the best teacher of the American University of Armenia. The start of work in the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia dates back to 1998. Before being appointed a member of the Council of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia in September 2018, M. Galstyan was the head of the statistical department, and since February 2015 he was the head of the Central Bank's Training and Research Center in Dilijan. M. Galstyan is an international consultant / lecturer of the World Bank. Engaged in public activities, participated in more than 50 international specialized events, is the author of a number of professional publications. Married, has three children.
