ArmInfo. The German Development Bank KfW, with the co- financing of the Armenian government, has blunted the implementation of the program for the construction of the Cape reservoir and a gravity irrigation system, the total budget of which amounted to 60 million euros.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Infrastructure, at the first stage it is planned that the reservoir will be 25 million cubic meters, after which it will reach 60 million cubic meters.
Within the framework of the program, it is planned to build a dam and auxiliary structures of the Kaps reservoir, re-equip the hydrological observation networks of the Akhuryan River (from Lake Arpi to the Akhuryan Reservoir), build additional stations and create a centralized database (SCADA system). As a result of the successful implementation of the program, it will be possible to replace the mechanical irrigation system with a gravity one, which will cover 2280 hectares of land, in the same way 1.3 million kW / h of electricity will be saved.
As a result of regular irrigation, agricultural production is expected to increase, and the establishment of a reliable water metering system will increase the level of management and monitoring. Recall that earlier KfW Bank provided Armenia with a loan of 50 million euros and a grant of 2 million euros for the implementation of the Kaps reservoir construction program. The funds were provided for a period of 15 years with a 5-year grace period at a fixed credit rate.
