ArmInfo. 1.9 billion AMD will be allocated from the state budget of Armenia for capital expenditures of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. This decision was made on July 2 at the next government meeting.
In particular, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan reported that the funds will be directed to the repair work of 7 colleges, the modernization of 10 high schools, the partial and general repair of 4 high schools, to improve the conditions of buildings of 30 basic and secondary schools, including the construction of ramps, assistance rooms, the provision of amenities in bathrooms. In addition, it is planned to reconstruct 1 school, build 1 specialized school, introduce heating and ventilation systems in the Historical Museum of Armenia, and repair the boiler house of the theater named after G. Sundukyan, various works at the A. Spendiaryan Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. At the same time, over 60 million drams will be allocated for the preparation and installation of the pedestal of the monument to the former leader of Soviet Armenia, then to the head of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Karen Demirchyan, who was killed during the 1999 terrorist attack. The minister also said that as part of the program to improve education, 8 high schools are being built, construction work of 2 of which, due to the pandemic, has been suspended, but 80% of work has already been completed. And by September 1, according to Harutyunyan, 21 new preschool institutions will be ready to accept children throughout Armenia.
