ArmInfo. The tourism sector in Armenia will begin to "recover" by the end of this autumn. RA Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan stated this at a press conference in Yerevan on August 14.
According to him, in connection with the coronavirus epidemic, the sector declined by more than 90%. Many companies simply closed down. At the same time, the minister stated that this closure is temporary. "Closer to the last month of autumn, the process of returning the enterprises of the tourism industry to normal activities will begin," Tigran Khachatryan said, also pointing out the expected relaxation in the field of air transportation.
To note, in 2019, 1 million 894 thousand 377 tourists visited Armenia, the number of visitors increased by more than 14%. These figures compared to 2018 are more by 242 595 tourists, compared to 2017 by 399 598 or 26.7%. However, the COVID-19 epidemic has led to a complete paralysis of the field.
