ArmInfo. In the "Engineering City" in Yerevan, a model of the Cubesat nanosatellite was designed. Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan announced this on August 26 at a press conference, adding that the details of the project will be presented later.
The Minister informed that achievements in the field of satellite technologies will be presented within the framework of the STARMUSVI International Festival of science and arts, which will be held in the republic in September 2021. According to Arshakyan, in this area, in terms of personnel, Armenia has good potential.
The Minister also informed about the project to create a national cybersecurity center in Armenia, the activities of which will be aimed, among other things, at improving the security of local network resources.
In particular, we are talking about creating cloud services for these purposes. Speaking about the situation in the IT sector, Arshakyan said that over the past 8 months of this year, 134 newly created companies working in the field of high-tech industry have been granted tax breaks. According to the Minister, the shareholders of the newly created company are compatriots from the USA, Czech Republic, Georgia, Iran, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, and other countries of the world. as Arshakyan informed in total, 364 companies were registered in the IT sector during 2019-2020, in Armenia,, the activity of which allowed opening about 960 jobs. In addition, as noted, 11 more companies working in this area are undergoing the procedure for obtaining a license.
Arshakyan also touched upon the anti-crisis programs implemented by the RA Government during the period of the coronavirus pandemic. So, within the framework of the 17th program, which implies the provision of grants to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the best five projects received funding in the amount of 22 million drams. At the same time, the most interesting ideas were also submitted for consideration to the Commandant's Office.
