Alcoholic beverages industry in Armenia is experiencing a negative  trend and difficulties with ensuring former volumes due to the COVID  crisis

ArmInfo.The coronavirus crisis has seriously affected the alcoholic beverages industry in Armenia - the alcohol market is experiencing a negative trend, and  restrictive measures that lasted for months make it impossible to  restore the former production and sales volumes. In particular, in  January-July 2020, the dynamics of absolutely all alcoholic beverages  produced in the country turned towards a decline, whereas a year  earlier, in the same period, a significant increase was recorded.

According to the data of the Statistical Committee, Armenia produced  18.6 million liters of brandy with a y-o-y decline of 12.3% (against  46.3% growth a year earlier). The volume of wine produced in Armenia  decreased by 24% y-o-y (against 37.8% growth a year earlier) - to 4.8  million liters, champagne - by 26% (against 18.3% growth a year  earlier) - to 221.7 thousand liters. The production of vodka also  decreased - by 24.5% y-o-y (against 40.8% growth in the previous  year) - to 2 mln liters, and beer production - by 11.3% (against  14.7% growth a year earlier) - up to 14.2 million liters.

According to statistics, during the reporting period, Armenia  produced 119.4 thousand liters of whiskey, which is 76.4% less than a  year ago (against 27.3% growth a year earlier).
