ArmInfo. The Russian government approved for ratification an agreement on the principles of tax policy in the field of excise taxes on tobacco products of the states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This is stated in the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers, which is the TASS agency reports.
"To approve and submit to the President of the Russian Federation for submission to the State Duma for ratification <...> an agreement on the principles of tax policy in the field of excise taxes on tobacco products of the Eurasian Economic Union member states," the text of the resolution says.
The Deputy Prime Ministers of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) signed an agreement on the principles of tax policy in the field of excise taxes on tobacco products in December 2019. It is assumed that, starting from 2024, when calculating national rates of excise duty on cigarettes, the EAEU countries will proceed from an indicative rate of 35 per 1,000 cigarettes with a deviation of no more than 20% up or down. To adapt the business to new requirements, the period for reaching the indicative rate is determined from 2020 to 2024. The member states of the Eurasian Economic Union are the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation.
