The country at a meeting on September 17 approved a deal to allocate the necessary areas for the construction of the center.
According to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan, the decision to build the center was made in December last year with the participation of the European Union and the "Simonyan" Foundation. For these purposes, EPGI Labs Limited LLC will allocate free of charge 15 thousand sq. meters of area in a building belonging to him, located on 16 Halabyan Street, Yerevan. Center construction will begin early next year and will be completed within two years old. Already in the spring of 2023, the center will begin to implement its activity, setting itself the task of reaching full self-sufficiency within several years. The project will to be implemented on a grant from the European Union and the Simonyan Foundation, which, through the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, will attract the necessary amounts of credit.
The center's activities will include four components. The first component is the creation of common laboratories where scientific topics will be developed, including nanotechnology, artificial intellect and others. The universities of Armenia will also be able to take advantage of the capabilities of these laboratories. The second component involves the involvement of TUMO in the process of teaching older people. The third component provides for the creation of a programming school for training programmers. The minister noted that in 90% of cases, graduates of this school will be able to find a job. The third component of the program is planned to be implemented in cooperation with a similar French school. The fourth component is to create the Faculty of Programmers of the French University of Armenia. In order to coordinate the activities of the center, a Council will be created with the participation of representatives of the Simonyan Foundation, the EU, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the Ministry of high-tech industry.
