The Territorial Development Fund of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia continues to contribute to strengthening the potential of the republic's communities. Another beneficiary of the "Social Investments and Local Development" program is the enlarged community of Kapan, Syunik region.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry, over the past month the community received agricultural machinery for 119 million 180 thousand drams. "In particular, Kapan received one combine harvester worth 41 million drams, one grader worth 47 million 530 thousand drams, one three-wheeled tractor worth 20 million 300 thousand drams, one mechanical plow 1 million 200 thousand drams, one cultivator worth 1.35 million drams, a tray for discs 2,650,000 AMD, a rower worth 4,550,000 AMD and a sprayer worth 600,000 AMD, "the statement says.
It should be noted that the local development social investment program is implemented through loans received from the World Bank, with 25% of each individual program co-financed by the communities and the RA government. In March 2020, the World Bank's Board of Executive Directors approved a EUR 17.9 million loan to Armenia for additional financing of the Social Investments and Local Development program. The program aims to help the Armenian government improve the quality, accessibility and usability of inter-community infrastructures and services. Infrastructure and services considered to be public property will be financed in 55 communities of Armenia. The program will enable the population of Armenian communities through micro-programs to use the restored and modernized social infrastructures in kindergartens, schools, water supply and drainage systems, small irrigation systems, community centers, medical institutions and other local infrastructures.
