
ArmInfo.The Armenian-American economic relations will intensify in the near future. Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan expressed this confidence during the meeting with US Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy.
As reported by the press service of the RA Ministry of Economy, during the meeting Vahan Kerobyan stressed the importance of the Armenian-American cooperation, pointing out the continued support of the US government in carrying out economic reforms in Armenia.
The interlocutors discussed the issues included in the cooperation agenda and specified the directions for further steps. In particular, the parties touched upon the activities of the Armenian-American Trade and Investment Council. They noted with satisfaction the established cooperation in such areas as Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), Sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SPS) Generalised scheme of preferences (GSP), high-tech diplomacy, trade diplomacy, etc., as well as the organization of business meetings with the participation of representatives of the public and private sector. Issues related to the availability of payment platforms (PayPal services) in Armenia, venture funds and the development of the capital market in Armenia were also discussed.
An exchange of views took place on the activation of the Armenian-American economic ties, bilateral economic cooperation, development of foreign trade relations, attraction of investments and improvement of the business environment. The parties also touched upon USAID-funded programs, in particular, in the areas of tourism, economic development of rural areas, market liberalization, science, innovative agriculture and business promotion.
Ambassador Lynne Tracy thanked the Minister for the reception and expressed her readiness to cooperate in all areas and provide the necessary assistance. At the end of the meeting, the parties once again stressed their readiness to continue cooperation.
