ArmInfo.Power Engineer's day is celebrated in Armenia today.
In his welcoming address, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan noted that, despite the chalnges of the current year, the sector, largely thanks to the power engineers, has maintained stability and ensured uninterrupted power supply to the entire country. "Your role in overcoming the epidemic and during the war is undeniable. Hundreds of power engineers went to the front to take part in the defense of the Motherland, while others continued to work in the rear, including providing material support to their friends at the border. I would like to thank for financial and technical and material support provided to the companies of the system, " the minister said.
He stressed that despite the existing obstacles, large-scale programs and reforms in the energy sector, planned for the current year, continue. In particular, a strategic program for the development of the energy sector of the Republic of Armenia until 2040 was developed, work was carried out to modernize and re-equip the infrastructure, the modernization of the existing power unit of the Armenian NPP continues, projects for the construction of the Armenia- Georgia and Iran-Armenia transmission lines. "Currently, work is underway to develop common electricity and gas markets of the EAEU countries, liberalize the electricity market in Armenia, as well as projects to develop the renewable energy sector, including the construction of industrial solar photovoltaic power plants Masrik-1 and Ayg-1," the minister said.
He also said that in the near future, joint work will continue to modernize the industry and improve energy security.
