Ministry of Economy plans to revise tax policy in agriculture

ArmInfo. The Ministry of Economy of Armenia plans to revise the tax policy in the field of agriculture. Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said this in an  interview to the Public Television of Armenia.

In particular, he stressed that in the agricultural sector VAT is in  effect at a rate of 20%, which indicates that in the legal field,  farmers are not able to develop large-scale agriculture. Kerobyan  noted in this regard that due to such a tax regime, the latter find  themselves in severe unequal conditions. He noted that people should  work freely and pay taxes that are proportionate and logical in the  current realities.

<Agriculture in Armenia is micro-sized. Each farmer has separate  plots of 1 or 2 hectares. That is, as a result, the farmer is forced  to invest more, but receive less at the same time, "he said.

The Minister said that the department plans to create numerous jobs  in the villages, which will provide an opportunity for villagers to  move away from agricultural activities and move on to other jobs. In  particular, he noted that we are talking about the development of  tourist facilities, programming, textile production, the creation of  centers for telecommuting, etc.  Agriculture, according to Kerobyan,  will be dealt with by 15-20% of the villagers, but they will already  develop large-scale agriculture, including through the creation of  cooperative farms, and leasing land from their fellow villagers.
