ArmInfo.he Armenian government approved the signing of a loan agreement for additional financing for $ 7.4 million with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development within the framework of the disease prevention and control program. This decision was made on January 21 at a regular meeting of the RA government.
According to the Minister of Health of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan, these funds will be used to complete the construction of a medical center in Martuni (Gegharkunik region) and modernize the medical center in Vayotsdzor. "These centers are of strategic importance, and their presence will affect the improvement of the quality and availability of medical services in the regions of Armenia," she said. At the same time, Avanesyan said that the construction work of the medical center in Martuni is scheduled to be completed by early 2022, and the construction of the Vayots Dzor center will begin immediately after the approval of the project, which is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
In turn, Minister of Finance Atom Janjukhazyan added that as a result of the approval of this agreement, the total volume of credit obligations of the state will not be increased, which became possible due to the revision of priorities for other credit programs. "This is one of those ways that allows you to effectively use credit funds," he said.
