Vahan Kerobyan: Iran can use Armenia as a bridge to other parts of  the world to sell its goods

ArmInfo.The development of trade and the facilitation of Iran's access to the markets of third countries are included in the agenda of Iran and Armenia. Armenian  Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan stated this.

Kerobyan in an interview with IRNA announced the signing of an  agreement with Iran in various fields, noting that a working group  will be created between the two countries to speed up the  implementation of joint agreements.

According to him, construction equipment and materials, fruits and  vegetables and petrochemical products are the main items of trade  between the two countries, and a limited part of metal and technical  equipment is exported from Armenia to Iran.

Pointing to Armenia's membership in the large EAEU market, Kerobyan  stated that Iran through Armenia can access various countries.

"Iran can create productive centers in Armenia to to supply their  goods to the markets of third countries, "he said, adding that Iran  can use Armenia as a bridge to other parts of the world to sell its  goods.  Kerobyan clarified that the authorities of the two countries  agreed to increase trade to at least $ 1 billion by the next 6  months. The current volume of trade between the two countries is $  400 million.  He also announced plans to launch the Tehran-Yerevan  railway in order to solve transport problems between the two  countries.  To note, at the end of January, the Armenian delegation  headed by Kerobyan visited Iran, where it held a number of meetings.  A readiness was expressed to further develop mutually beneficial  cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. The Armenian side also  announced its intention to replace 2,250 items of goods from Turkey  with goods of Iranian origin in connection with the entry into force  on January 1 of this year of the law banning the import of Turkish  goods into Armenia.
