ArmInfo.The Ministry of Economy of Armenia is holding discussions with a number of investors around the programs, with a total cost of several hundred million dollars.
Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan told the journalists about it during the briefing. He noted that the matter concerns the representatives of quite various businesses, starting from IT up to construction. In this context, the minister informed about the construction project of the historical center "Kumayri" in Gyumri, one of the investors of which is the former RA Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan. In addition, referring to the results of the meeting of the European Business Association, Kerobyan said that the head of the Carrefour hyper-supermarket chain intends to invest several million dollars to open 10 supermarkets in Armenia within 12 months.
At the same time, the minister pointed to a number of large investment projects in the field of agriculture, in particular those related to intensive gardens and greenhouses.
Earlier, ArmInfo reported that the implementation of the program to restore the Kumayri architectural reserve in the historical part of the city became known during the visit of former Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan to Gyumri in February 2017, accompanied by foreign investors. It was reported that the amount required for the restoration of the Kumayri complex is $ 200 million, so a decision was made to implement the program in stages, which was to begin with the restoration of Rustaveli and Shiraz streets in Gyumri. Prior to the start of the project, an appropriate fund was created, and a manager was appointed. Karen Karapetyan became the first investor of the fund, donating 500 thousand dollars.
