ArmInfo. On July 2 a solemn ceremony was held in the sport cultural center named after Karen Demirchyan on the occasion of the launch of the most advanced fiber- optic network Next Generation Network (NGN) in Armenia. Such a breakthrough in the history of telecommunications in Armenia was achieved thanks to the cooperation of Telecom Armenia (TM Beeline) and Nokia.
With the launch of a new generation network, every subscriber in Armenia will henceforth have access to the Internet at a speed of 25 Gb/s, as well as dark fiber, from his apartment to the company's servers. In addition, the network will provide the opportunity to quickly re-equip active equipment. During the ceremony, Telecom Armenia Director General Hayk Yesayan called July 2 a historic day for the telecommunications sector in Armenia. "Since 1913, our company has been providing services in the RA, starting with telegraphy, using copper cable for many years. Today our network is completely re-equipped and becomes fiber-optic. You will say that we have previously provided services using a fiber-optic network. But previously, one network was distributed among several subscribers. Whereas today one network will be available for one subscriber. This is the biggest advantage - based on a network that can be quickly retrofitted, you can implement different technologies and get different speeds. This is the strongest network in the region, which we launched today in the Davitashen district of the capital, and will continue throughout Yerevan, "he said.
In this context, Yesayan said that the company plans to provide access to the network for residents of all administrative districts of the capital by the end of next year. Moreover, work has already begun on the implementation of the network in the cities of Kajaran, Hrazdan and Jermuk. " This is a big step forward Both for the telecom operator and for the country, " he said.
In turn, the technical director of the company Gevorg Gevorgyan emphasized that 6th generation wi-fi equipment will be used to connect to the network, the maximum bandwidth of which is 9.6 Gb / s. According to him, wi-fi 6 technology improves the efficiency of simultaneous connection of multiple devices, optimizing their traffic. In addition, wi-fi 6 has a TWT function, which provides the ability to increase the battery life of devices. For the availability of wi-fi of a similar speed, the equipment of the leading player in this area - the company Nokia - was chosen. It was noted that the subscribers who connect to the new network will use the equipment provided by the company Nokia Beacon.
Expressing satisfaction in connection with the cooperation with Armenia, Mikko Lavanti, Vice President, Head of Central Europe & Central Asia, Nokia noted that this network will provide new opportunities for the development of Armenia, including business. "You can be rightfully proud, because this is the highest speed not only in Armenia, but in the entire region," he said. Among the official guests at the launch ceremony of the Next Generation Network was Acting Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan. In an interview with reporters, he noted that the technology proposed by the company is revolutionary, and provides an opportunity for people sitting at home to conquer the whole world. "I am confident that the introduction of this infrastructure will serve as a source for high economic growth. As a result, such advanced technologies and speed will become the basis for the creation of new companies, including in the IT field, which, as a result, will lead to the growth of business and economy, "Kerobyan said.
Based on this network, the company has developed special Cosmo tariff packages, which include ultra- high-speed home Internet, mobile communications, IPTV, wi-fi equipment and a wi-fi amplifier. Note that at the initial stage, Telecom Armenia invested $ 25 million for the network construction.
