
ArmInfo.The European Union (EU) is implementing a new economic and investment program worth 17 billion euros to improve the economic well-being of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries. This was announced by the EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and EU Enlargement Policy Oliver Varhelyi in his microblock on Twitter.
''Today we're putting forward an ambitious Economic and Investment Plan that will through mobilisation of around EUR 17 billion in investments help stimulate jobs and growth+bring prosperity to the region. The Plan includes country flagships for all Eastern Partners. I look forward to travelling to South Caucasus - Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia - next week to present the Economic&Investment Plan for EasternPartnership region and its flagship initiatives. As ArmInfo previously reported, Varhelyi is expected in Yerevan on July 8.
To recall, the EU EaP programs included Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Last week, amid EU sanctions against Belarus, Minsk announced the suspension of its participation in this EU project.
