ArmInfo.Iran and Armenia maintain long-standing economic relations, and strengthening trade ties between the two countries is on the agenda. Armenian Ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan stated this.
"Iran occupies a leading position among Armenia's neighbors and has important opportunities in the fields of industry and agriculture," he said during his one-day visit to Markazi province.
Tumanyan also stated about the interest of Armenian businessmen in expanding economic relations with Iran. He invited a trade delegation from Markazi province to visit Armenia to assess the situation for cooperation.
Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Markazi province Saeed Farrokhi at this meeting spoke about many Armenian citizens in this province. He also stated that Armenian church in the city of Arak seems to be a sign of the peaceful coexistence of the inhabitants of Arak with the Armenians.
Markazi province is located in the west of Iran, there are more than 2,900 industrial centers in it, IRNA reports.
To note, according to the Statistical Committee, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Iran in January-April amounted to $ 136.5 million with a y-o-y growth of 35.1%. At the same time, exports decreased by 19.2% to $ 22.5 million, while imports showed an increase of 55.7%, amounting to $ 114 million
