Minister: Armenia should turn from a technology importing country  into an exporting country

ArmInfo. Armenia should turn from an importing country of 

technologies into an exporting country. Minister of High-Tech  Industry of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan stated this during a meeting  with  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to  Armenia Fan Yong.

Noting the great role and experience of China in the international  economy and in the development of high technologies, the minister  stressed that the development of bilateral cooperation is extremely  important for Armenia. "Our country is in a situation where it is  necessary to change the logic of economic development," Vahagn  Khachaturyan said.

In turn, the Ambassador said that over 40 years, China has made  significant investments in the field of high technologies, the  results of which are obvious today. At the same time, Fan Yong called  the development of cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and  Information Technologies of China and the Ministry of High-Tech  Industry of Armenia quite promising. During the meeting, the parties  also touched upon a number of other issues related to innovation,  technology, implementation of joint programs in the field of  entrepreneurship. Vahagn Khachaturyan expressed the hope that they will be permanent,  and concrete results will be achieved in the near future. 

To note, according to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, the  revenue of the information and telecommunication technologies (ICT)  sector in H1 2021 reached 159.9 billion drams (about $ 306.3  million), exceeding the figure of a year ago by 2.8%. According to  the source, the manufacturing segment traditionally accounts for the  smallest share in the specified total volume - 1.2 billion drams (or  0.8%), with a y-o-y growth of 51.4%
