In August alone, the number of tourists who visited the country amounted to 143 thousand. "This means that in comparison with last year we already have an increase of 130%," he said.
Returning to the previously announced forecast regarding the growth of tourist flow to Armenia, which will be 319%, Kerobyan found it difficult to give an accurate estimate of whether this plan would be fulfilled. In this regard, he referred to the unstable situation in the world with the coronavirus pandemic, which complicates the situation with road traffic.
However, the Minister expressed confidence that over 1 million tourists will visit Armenia without fail by the end of the year.
To note, according to the forecast of the Ministry, the number of tourists visiting Armenia in 2021 will amount to 1.2 million %. To note, according to the data of Statistical Committee of Armenia, in 2020 375 216 people visited Armenia for tourism purposes, which is lower than last year's indicator by 80.2%.
