Armenia significantly reduced sugar imports

ArmInfo.In the first half of 2021, Armenia reduced sugar imports by 73.4% (against a decline of 35% a year earlier), supplying 5.6 thousand tons to the market.  According to the data of the Customs Service, the customs value at  the same time decreased by 53.2%, amounting to $ 3.2 million.

During the reporting period, sugar was imported to the Armenian  market from Russia (38.9%), Brazil (28.7%), Germany (10.6%), Belarus  (5.4%), Syria (0.1%). Very insignificant shares came from France,  Italy, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Greece, Bulgaria, the United  Kingdom, Poland, the USA, Hungary.

According to the source, during the reporting period, Armenia  exported 14.8 tons of sugar for a total of $ 11.7 thousand. In  quantitative and value terms, a decline of 36.2% and 28.6%,  respectively, was recorded. The main export market was Georgia  (89.2%), while 8.1% of sales fell on the United States, and very  small shares were supplied to the Russian and Kazakh markets.  It  should be noted that, according to previously available data, 99.9%  of sugar imports to Armenia fall on the share of the "Alex- Grig"  company, which belongs to the family of the Armenian oligarch Samvel  Aleksanyan.
