Armenia reduced exports of molybdenum, zinc and copper concentrates

ArmInfo. In H1 2021, Armenia reduced the export of copper ore by 9.5% per annum (against 17.8% growth a year earlier) - to 240.5 thousand tons. At the same  time, having increased the customs value by 50% - up to $ 421.3  million.

According to the data of the RA Customs Service, copper ore was  exported to China (42.1%), Switzerland (31.6%), Bulgaria (26.3%), as  well as to Canada, Romania, Australia, the Netherlands, Georgia, the  United Kingdom.

A downward trend was also observed in the export of molybdenum  concentrate, the volume of which decreased by 7% (against an  14.3-fold increase a year earlier), amounting to 6.3 thousand tons.  However, the customs value increased by 48.9% - to $ 66.9 million.  The main share of exports was shared by China (81.1%); the Republic  of Korea (7.9%), Switzerland (5.6%), Belgium (0.4%) -with smaller  volumes, and the remaining small volume - the Russian Federation,  Netherlands, United Kingdom.

Zinc concentrate exports decreased by 0.7% (versus 20.9% growth in  the previous year), amounting to 6.9 thousand tonnes, wile the entire  volume was shared by Belgium (as in the previous year). During the  reporting period, the customs value increased by 59.5% - to $ 9.1  million.

Exports of ores containing precious metals in H1 2021 decreased by  52.4% - to 1.4 thousand tons (against 58.8% growth in the previous  year). The customs value fell by 81.6% to $ 1.3 million. Moreover,  almost the entire volume of exported raw materials, as in the  previous year, fell on Switzerland (99.9%), and the remaining volume  was supplied to the Russian market.

According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in  H1 2021, copper concentrate production increased by 7.5% per annum  (against 16.6% growth a year earlier), with a volume of 202.4  thousand tons. Zinc concentrate production decreased by 16.3% per  annum (against 28.2% growth a year earlier), amounting to 5.807  thousand tons. The production of molybdenum concentrate decreased in  the first half of the year by 3.8% per annum (against an increase of  1.8 times a year earlier), amounting to 11.934 thousand tons.
