
ArmInfo.On September 13, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan received Co-Chairs of the Armenian-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation: Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Maryna Lazebna from the Ukrainian side and RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan from the Armenian side.
As the press service of RA Government reports, the meeting was also attended by Ambassador of Ukraine to Armenia Ivan Kuleba and Ambassador of Armenia to Ukraine Vladimir Karapetyan.
At the beginning of the meeting, M. Grigoryan stressed the importance of organizing a meeting of the Armenian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission from the point of view of the development of social and economic relations and identifying promising areas of cooperation. He noted that trade and economic relations between Armenia and Ukraine have great potential for development, for the implementation of which the government is ready to work with colleagues from Ukraine.
Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine M. Lazebna, thanking for the reception, noted that she had arrived in Armenia to participate in the 8th meeting of the intergovernmental commission, accompanied by a large representative delegation. She presented to the RA Deputy Prime Minister the main issues on the agenda of the intergovernmental meeting, stressing that thanks to the work done following the meeting, bilateral cooperation will be improved.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister also noted the importance of enhancing contacts between business communities, and familiarizing Ukrainian businessmen with the advantages of the Armenian market.
The parties touched upon the specifics of the social protection policy pursued in the two countries, and also noted the importance of exchanging experience in this area.
According to the RA Statistical Committee, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Ukraine exceeded $ 82.3 million in January-July 2021, with a y-o-y growth of 2.3%. In particular, the export of Armenian goods to Ukraine increased on a y-o-y terms by 7.4% - up to $ 12.5 million, with an increase in imports of goods from Ukraine by 1.5% - up to $ 69.9 million. A year earlier, in January-July 2020, these indicators were in decline: foreign trade turnover - by 8.9%, in particular, exports - by 3.8% and imports - by 9.7%.
