ArmInfo. Iranian businessmen are interested in opening joint ventures with Armenia in a number of areas. This was announced during a meeting between representatives of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia and Chamber of Commerce of the city of Isfahan of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Iranian delegation included Iranian entrepreneurs representing the sectors of construction, agriculture, food industry, pharmaceuticals, jewelry, production of electric batteries for cars, etc.
The visit of the Iranian side was conditioned by the intention to intensify bilateral economic ties and implement joint programs. In particular, the Iranian business segment announced its desire to intensify exports, create joint ventures in the field of pharmaceuticals, dried fruit production, medical supplies, equipment for drip irrigation, etc.
During the meeting, the delegation from Isfahan raised the issue of clarifying the documentation in the process of cargo transportation, as well as the problems encountered related to cargo transportation. In this regard, Deputy Chairman of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia Nerses Karamanukyan promised to hold discussions with the authorized bodies to resolve these issues. Upon completion of the meeting, discussions and exchange of necessary information in a bilateral format took place between Armenian and Iranian businessmen.
According to the RA Statistical Committee, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Iran in January-July 2021 increased by 21.1%, amounting to $ 264.8 million. At the same time, exports decreased by 25.3% to $ 37 million, while imports increased by 34.7 % to $ 227.8 million
