Armenia to switch over to non-cash pension payment next year

ArmInfo.Armenia will switch over to non-cash payment of pensions from Jan 1, 2022 - by means of banks or Haypost, the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs  reports.   

This pension payment system was introduced in Yerevan, Gyumri and  Vanadzor on July 1, 2021.  Exceptions will be made for pensioners  aged over 75, people with the 1st and 2nd disability groups, citizens  receiving pensions by warrant, as well as for minors aged 14 and  over.  

All the others have to apply to the local offices of the Social  Service Center and choose a bank or the Haypost operator. 

The non-cash payment system applies to care allowances, old age  benefits, disability benefits, survivor benefits, etc.. 

If an applicant prefers the Haypost operator, he or she has to sign a  contract for opening and service of an account and enclose it to his  or her application. No additional documents will be required in the  case of banks. 

In case a pensioner does not make his or her choice before December  10, 2021, the system will do it itself and inform citizens within  three workdays.
