ArmInfo. Armenian Ambassador to the Netherlands Tigran Balayan, as the main speaker, took part in a working lunch with businessmen, organized by Christian Council International (CCI).
As reported by the press service of the RA Embassy in the Netherlands, Balayan informed the business sector representatives about the history of the Armenian-Dutch relations, the centuries-old presence of Armenians in the Netherlands, the existing trade and economic cooperation, efforts to expand them. Managing Director at Talenting Investments, Entrepreneur Gijs Willem Sloof told Dutch businessmen about their investments in Armenia, their effectiveness and urged them to follow his example.
The organizer of the event, Henk Jan van Schothorst, director of Christian Council International, spoke about the cultural ties between Armenia and the Netherlands, as well as about the work carried out by the organization he heads. The possibility of organizing a business mission to Armenia was discussed at the meeting.
According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia for January-September 2021, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the Netherlands amounted to $ 149.2 million, with a y-o-y growth of 52.1%. Moreover, the Netherlands is among the TOP-5 trading partner countries of Armenia in terms of export volume - over $ 122 million with a y-o-y growth of 64.4%, while the volume of imports from the Netherlands amounted to $ 27.2 million with a y-o-y growth of 14%.
