On December 13-17, dollar transactions on interbank currency market  of Armenia increased

ArmInfo. From December 13 to December 17, dollar transactions in the foreign exchange interbank of Armenia increased by 37.2%, after falling by 2.4% in the previous week (from December 6-10).

In addition, during the reporting week, on Wednesday,  euro transactions were also made in the interbank currency market. At  the same time, dollar transactions increased in the intrabank foreign  exchange market during the reporting period, the multilateral  dynamics of euro transactions has been maintained - against the  background of sales growth, purchases fell, and in the case of  transactions in rubles, the decline in purchases was accompanied by a  slowdown in sales growth. The exchange currency platform has been  idle for the fourth year already.

As a result, from December 13-17 2021, the dram began to revalue  against the dollar - from 495 to 481.5 AMD / $ 1, and against the  euro - from 557.5 to 546 AMD / 1 EUR, as well as against the ruble -  from 6.8 to 6.6 AMD / 1 RUB. A year earlier, on December 17, 2020,  the dram exchange rate against the dollar was 524.5 AMD / $ 1,  against the euro - 640 AMD / 1EUR, and against the ruble - 7.2 AMD /  1 RUB, which, in comparison with the current exchange rates,  indicates a y-o-y revaluation of the dram against the dollar, euro,  and the ruble.

According to the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, USD  transactions in the amount of $ 8.3 million at an average rate of  484.34 AMD / $ 1 (versus 486.06 AMD / $ 1 in the previous week), as  well as EUR transactions in the volume of 1.2 million euros at an  average rate of 541.50 AMD / 1 EUR, were carried out in the interbank  currency market from December 13-17. Moreover, during the reporting  week, the foreign exchange interbank, having worked daily, showed the  maximum volume on Tuesday - $ 3 million.

In parallel with this, on the intrabank foreign exchange market from  December 13-17 in comparison with the previous period (from December  6-10), the trend of buying and selling dollars reversed from a  downward 10.8-11.4% to an upward 63.7-43.8% , the decline in euro  purchases slowed down from 12.3% to 1.5%, while sales growth  accelerated from 2.2% to 3%, and for ruble transactions, the reversal  of the buying dynamics from 1% growth to 4.5% was accompanied by a  slowdown in sales growth from 8.5% to 2.9%. As a result, $ 189.1  million was purchased during the reporting week at an average rate of  483.10 AMD / $ 1, 17.6 million euros at an average rate of 543.87 AMD  / 1EUR, and 1.8 billion rubles, at an average rate of 6.53 AMD /  1RUB, and sold $ 152.98 million at an average rate of 488.08 AMD / $  1.24.1 million at an average rate of 552.22 AMD / 1EUR, and 1.6  billion rubles, at an average rate of 6.65 AMD / 1RUB.

It should be noted that in January-September 2021 the RA Central Bank  made interventions in the foreign exchange market for a total of $  173.3 million, of which $ 156.3 million was for sale (in January - $  46.8 million, in March - $ 34.8 million, and in April - $ 74.7  million) and $ 17 million - for  purchase (in June - $ 7 million and  September - $ 10 million). During this period, the selling rate from  January 523.86 AMD / $ 1 increased to 530.06 AMD / $ 1 in April  (versus 522.98 AMD / $ 1 in December), and the purchase rate from  June 495.75 AMD / $ 1 decreased to 487.67 in AMD / $ 1 September. And  in February, May, July and August, the Central Bank did not intervene  in the foreign exchange market. In January-September 2021, over $ 3.6  billion, 586.2 million euros and more than 59.9 billion rubles were  bought on the intrabank foreign exchange market, and $ 3.8 billion,  762.5 million euros and 44.4 billion rubles were sold, which formed  the buying rate in September at the level of 485.82 AMD / $ 1, 571.09  AMD / 1 EUR and 6.66 AMD / 1 RUB, and the selling rate at the level  of 489.49 AMD / $ 1, 578.84 AMD / 1 EUR and 7.05 AMD / 1 RUB, against  December 518.20 AMD / $ 1 and 626.25 AMD / 1 EUR - for purchase and  521.46 AMD / $ 1 and 633.77 AMD / 1 EUR - for sale. In the interbank  foreign exchange market, in January-September 2021, only dollar  transactions in the amount of $ 496.7 million were carried out, which  was accompanied by the revaluation of the AMD against the US dollar  from December 522.61 AMD / $ 1 to September 487.54 AMD / $ 1. The  exchange currency platform has been idle for the fourth year already.
