EAEU study: Armenia is in the TOP-15 in the Economic Freedom Index

ArmInfo.The EAEU has good potential in the field of education, the development of ICT technologies, human capital and research, the quality of the environment, but weak in the field of development of the financial market, the quality of  regulation, public health, individual rights and the inclusive  society.

This is stated in a study by the Macroeconomic Policy  Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), which provides  an analysis of changes in the positions of the EAEU countries in  international rankings in 2021.

In particular, the report notes that all EAEU countries, except for  the Russian Federation, have improved their positions in the  Fraser_2021 Economic Freedom Index. At the same time, Armenia ranked  15th, while Kazakhstan -55th, Kyrgyzstan - 77th, Belarus - 88th,  Russia- 100th.

At the same time, Russia (45th) and Belarus (62nd) improved their  position in the Global Innovation Index_2021, while Armenia ranked  69th, ahead of Kazakhstan (79th) and Kyrgyzstan (98th).

In the Social Progress Index, experts note a good level of  accessibility of school and university education in the EAEU  countries. This study assesses the extent to which a country is able  to meet the basic needs of its citizens, improve their quality of  life, and create opportunities to realize their potential.

All EEU countries, except Armenia and Belarus, have improved their  positions in this ranking (Kazakhstan - with 3 positions, Kyrgyzstan  and Russia - with 7 positions). Among the EAEU countries, Belarus  (54th place) ranks highest, followed by Armenia (55th place), Russia  (62nd place), Kazakhstan (64th place) and Kyrgyzstan (82nd place).

It was also noted that in 2021 the Standard&Poors rating agency  assigned a credit rating to the Republic of Armenia for the first  time. The rating of long-term government bonds in foreign currency is  set at B+, the rating outlook is positive.

It should be reminded that Armenia also improved its position in the  Transparency International's "Corruption Perception Index-CPI"  rating. Among the 180 countries included in the study, Armenia ranked  58th (together with Greece, Jordan and Namibia), with a corruption  perception index of 49 points. Whereas Russia in the CPI ranking in  2021 took 136th place with 29 points, Belarus - 82nd place (41  points), Kazakhstan - 102nd place (37 points), Kyrgyzstan - 144th  place (27 points).
