Former adviser of Alen Simonyan elected as a member of the Board of  the Central Bank

ArmInfo.On March 4, the National Assembly of Armenia elected Leon Sahakyan, former Advisor to the NA Speaker Alen Simonyan, as the 5th member of the Board of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia by secret ballot.  70 out of 107 MPs  took part in the voting, 69 supported the candidacy, 1 voted  "against".

Levon Sahakyan's candidacy for the position of a member of the Board  of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia was nominated by the  ruling faction of the National Assembly "Civil Contract".  Levon   Sahakyan (born in 1984, Yerevan), in 2006 he graduated from the  financial faculty with a degree in accounting and auditing from the  Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE), Ph.D. Since 2015,  Associate Professor of the Department of Financial Accounting of the  Armenian State University of Economics.  Worked in the private sector  as a chief accountant, financial deputy and advisor to the director,  executive director of various LLCs. Since 2019, he began his career  in the National Assembly, first as an adviser to the Deputy Chairman,  and then as an assistant to a deputy. Since August 2021, he has been  the First Deputy Head of the Parliament's Staff, and since September  last year, he has been an adviser to the NA Speaker.  The Board of  the Central Bank consists of the Chairman of the Central Bank, two of  his deputies, five members of the Council. Five members of the Board  of the Central Bank are elected by the National Assembly of the  Republic of Armenia for a term of six years. Members of the Boardof  the Central Bank may not hold other positions in the Central Bank.
