Armenia to take part in sixth round of talks on Persian Gulf-Black  Sea transport corridor in Sofia

ArmInfo. The delegation of the Armenian government will take part in the sixth round of negotiations on the transport corridor "Persian Gulf - Black Sea" in Sofia  (Bulgaria).

As reported on the official website of the RA government, by the  decision of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan dated April 4,  representatives of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and  Infrastructures will be sent to Bulgaria on April 5-7 to participate  in the 6th meeting of expert negotiators of the "On the establishment  of an international and transit transport corridor Persian Gulf -  Black Sea" project.  Back in October 2021, Head of Iran's Trade  Promotion Organization (TPO) Alireza Peyman-Pak, announced about  plans to maximize the opportunities of trade corridors. According to  Isna, one of the countries to which Iran's exports should expand is  Russia. Referring to the plan to maximize the use of trade corridors,  the head of the TRO stressed: "The passage of Iranian goods through  the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan has always been  problematic, the problems were aggravated in the cold season, in this  regard, we studied options for replacing Azerbaijan." The source  noted that the route from the territory of Armenia to Georgia through  Russia would be completed within a month. The sea route is also  considered, and its development is currently underway.

According to mehrnews.com, in early February this year, Iranian  Deputy Foreign Minister  for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari pointed  to consultations on  establishing Persian Gulf- Black Sea corridor.   Safari said that  negotiations for the conclusion of the "Persian  Gulf- Black Sea  Corridor Agreement" among Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia,  Georgia,  Bulgaria and Greece are still going on.

The deputy foreign minister added that "The sixth round of talks is   scheduled to take place in Sofia, Bulgaria, in Ordibehesht   month(between April and May) next year and the text of the agreement   will be ready for signing then." "Informal preparations are underway  with the ambassadors of the  agreement member states in Tehran and  other respective capitals, so  that, God willing, we will soon see  the emergence of an important  transport corridor with various routes  to facilitate trade between  the countries of the region and the  outside world," Safari added.  He underscored that "recently a pilot  program for the transfer of  shipments from Iran to the Black Sea was  implemented in cooperation  with the Republic of Azerbaijan and  Georgia."
