
ArmInfo.The delegation of the Armenian government will take part in the sixth round of negotiations on the transport corridor "Persian Gulf - Black Sea" in Sofia (Bulgaria).
As reported on the official website of the RA government, by the decision of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan dated April 4, representatives of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures will be sent to Bulgaria on April 5-7 to participate in the 6th meeting of expert negotiators of the "On the establishment of an international and transit transport corridor Persian Gulf - Black Sea" project. Back in October 2021, Head of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Alireza Peyman-Pak, announced about plans to maximize the opportunities of trade corridors. According to Isna, one of the countries to which Iran's exports should expand is Russia. Referring to the plan to maximize the use of trade corridors, the head of the TRO stressed: "The passage of Iranian goods through the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan has always been problematic, the problems were aggravated in the cold season, in this regard, we studied options for replacing Azerbaijan." The source noted that the route from the territory of Armenia to Georgia through Russia would be completed within a month. The sea route is also considered, and its development is currently underway.
According to mehrnews.com, in early February this year, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari pointed to consultations on establishing Persian Gulf- Black Sea corridor. Safari said that negotiations for the conclusion of the "Persian Gulf- Black Sea Corridor Agreement" among Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Bulgaria and Greece are still going on.
The deputy foreign minister added that "The sixth round of talks is scheduled to take place in Sofia, Bulgaria, in Ordibehesht month(between April and May) next year and the text of the agreement will be ready for signing then." "Informal preparations are underway with the ambassadors of the agreement member states in Tehran and other respective capitals, so that, God willing, we will soon see the emergence of an important transport corridor with various routes to facilitate trade between the countries of the region and the outside world," Safari added. He underscored that "recently a pilot program for the transfer of shipments from Iran to the Black Sea was implemented in cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan and Georgia."
