ArmInfo. On April 7, the Armenian government adopted a non- discussable resolution aimed at continuing payments to residents of the villages of Shurnukh and Vorotan in the Syunik region, whose houses and land plots became under the control of Azerbaijan.
According to the clarification, social assistance provided from February 2021 will continue from January to November until 2022. "Due to the prevailing realities, a number of residents of the settlements of Shurnukh and Vorotan in the Syunik region have lost their residential property. The assistance program has been completed, while their social problems, including housing, have not yet been resolved. In accordance with this, monthly support in the amount of 68,000 drams will be provided for more for 11 months," the document says.
It should be noted that within the framework of the program AMD 300,000 was paid to the beneficiaries in a lump sum and AMD 68,000 monthly. In addition, financial support, including a lump sum of AMD 300,000, was provided to children born after July 1, 2021, whose parent is the beneficiary of the program.
It should be reminded that the "new Armenian-Azerbaijani border" has cut the village of Shurnukh almost in half. As a result, more than a dozen houses came on the territory controlled by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, at the same time the Armenian authorities initiated the construction of a new quarter, which was suspended after the establishment of an Azerbaijani checkpoint on the Goris-Kapan highway. Initially, construction was to be completed by the end of this year. On November 25, at a government meeting, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Development of Armenia Armen Ghularyan stated that the construction of residential buildings in Shurnukh continues. "There were some problems, but now construction is in full swing. On Saturday we were there, work is underway. We hope that, in accordance with the terms specified in the contract, that is, in the first half of 2022, the construction of a residential area will be fully completed," he said.
