ArmInfo. Yerevan Leather Haberdashery Factory intends to expand the geography of its production areas. This was announced during the visit of the Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Rafael Gevorgyan to the Factory.
According to the press service of the economic department, the production volume of the Factory at the moment is 14 million square meters dm. However, with the full use of production capacities, volumes can increase by 2 times. For these purposes, the management of the Factory plans to launch production in the regions of Armenia.
Initially, the Factory produced semi-finished leather (wet blue). Today, the enterprise produces finished leather, the main part of which is sold to shoe manufacturers for the Army and other security forces of the country. However, one of the main problems, as stated by the management, remains the lack of professional staff.
Touching upon the instruments of state assistance, the Deputy Minister spoke about the initiative of the Ministry of Economy to develop a strategy for the production of leather goods and footwear, which will improve the conditions for stable economic and inclusive growth of the sector.
Rafael Gevorgyan, within the framework of his authority, expressed his readiness to assist in resolving the problems raised during the meeting.
According to the source, in 2016, the Yerevan Leather Haberdashery Factory was acquired by the Dutch entrepreneurs of Armenian origin, the Haykaz brothers, who have been engaged in the production of leather in the Netherlands for many years.
