ArmInfo. Russia will provide Armenia with foodstuffs in full and at minimal prices. Oleg Nilov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Agrarian Committee, announced this during a press conference on April 21.
In this vein, he noted that settlements without the dollar and the euro are a serious opportunity to achieve minimum prices for citizens of the two countries. "Settlements in the national currency is one of the topics that is being discussed today, and I hope appropriate decisions will be made," Nilov stressed.
Noting that the main goal is the development of mutually beneficial relations in the economy, he attached importance to building up agricultural cooperation, in view of the prospects. At the same time, Nilov noted that allied relations between countries are not used effectively enough.
He also pointed to the enormous potential and resources of Russia, primarily energy, which should be channeled into the interior of the country.
At the same time, Nilov noted that, according to various estimates, from 40 million hectares to 100 million hectares of arable land are not used in the Russian Federation. Another resource he called people who are able to work, but for the appropriate fee. "By resolving these issues, Russia can definitely provide itself with everything it needs, with the exception of exotic vegetables and fruits. There are no problems with meat, milk, vegetables. And by further developing the agricultural sector, Russia will be able to help the whole world avoid cataclysms associated with the hunger of a million people. We put this task in our field of responsibility", he said. In this regard, Nilov pointed to the possibilities of cooperation with the allied states, in particular Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan. "To restore what we had before, and then move forward, multiplying it," he concluded.
It should be noted that according to the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, the trade turnover of agro-food products between Armenia and Russia in 2021 increased by 19.8% to $903.1 million, with an increase in exports from Armenia to the Russian Federation by 24.7% to $543.3 million.
