ArmInfo. Another record has been registered in the labor market of Armenia. Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan announced this on his Facebook page. In particular, according to him, as of April 2022, the number of jobs in the country's labor market amounted to 664,736, which is 6.1% higher than the indicator of a year ago, and in comparison with 2020 - by 21.4%.
At the same time, as the minister noted, the growth driver was the programming sector, which grew by 13% or 2,300 jobs in a month, and by 48.4% in a year, and by 66.7% compared to 2020. The salary fund of this industry increased by 21% or 3,661 billion drams. According to the data provided by the head of the economic department, as of the reporting date, the largest number of employed in Armenia is in the retail sector (65,295 jobs), followed by healthcare (37,751), micro business (34,787), catering (24,171) and programming - (19 999) closes the TOP-5. The housing construction organization sector has the least involvement in the labor market of Armenia, in total -5744.
According to the RA Statistical Committee, in 2021 the average y-o-y unemployment rate in Armenia decreased to 15.3% from 18.1% in 2020. It should be noted that according to the forecast of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia for 2022, updated in March, the unemployment rate in Armenia will increase to 16.7%, which is due to a decrease in seasonal labor migration due to the unfavorable economic situation in Russia. According to the forecasts of the Central Bank of Armenia , in the medium term, the unemployment rate will remain in the range of 16.4- 16.9%.
