A joint Armenian-Russian technopark may be established in Armenia-  Gordeyev

ArmInfo. The Russian parliamentary delegation discussed the directions of trade and  economic cooperation between the two countries in the Armenian  government today. Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian  Federation Alexey  Gordeyev told journalists in Yerevan on June 28.

According to him, the issue of trade and economic cooperation was  discussed today at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia  Mher Grigoryan. As Gordeyev noted, as of today, more than 200  treaties and agreements are in force between Armenia and Russia in  one or another area of bilateral cooperation. <But today we talked  about how to deploy this potential. There is a good growth in  bilateral trade, but we expect to bring it to $3 billion in the near  future>, the Russian parliamentarian said, also pointing to the  possibility of a serious increase in investment and the establishment  of joint ventures in industry and agriculture. The issue of joint  certification of products in the markets was also discussed, so that  the parties perceive these products as goods of domestic production.  The Russian MP said that mow the total volume of Russian investments  accumulated in Armenia is about 40%. "Our business is already  seriously present in Armenia, but we would like to change the quality  of these investments and open joint ventures for the organization of  production in order to sell our products in the markets of third  countries," Alexey  Gordeyev said, adding that today the issue of  establishing a joint Armenian-Russian technopark in Armenia is being  discussed.

Speaking about the problems at the Upper Lars checkpoint, the Russian  MP recalled the decision of the Prime Minister of the Russian  Federation, on the basis of which a dialogue is underway between the  ministries of economy of the two countries. "In the near future, the  checkpoint's capacity will be seriously expanded," the Deputy Speaker  of the State Duma assured.

It should be noted that according to the data of the Statistical  Committee of Armenia, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and  Russia in January-April 2022, increased by 36.8%, amounting to $903.4  million. At the same time, exports increased by 26.4% to $280  million, while imports grew by 42.1% to $623.4 million.
