ArmInfo. RA Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan received Maciej Czura, Head of European Investment Bank (EIB) Regional Representation of the South Caucasus.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Finance, Minister Khachatryan highly appreciated the cooperation with the EIB highlighted the EIB-co- financed projects being implemented in various areas: including construction of North-South highway the upcoming one of the Sisian- Kajaran road section, Yerevan energy efficiency transport management.
Maciej Czura thanked fthe warm reception expressed his confidence in the RA Government in realizing the ambitious reform agenda. "The long- term effective cooperation established between the RA Ministry of Finance the European Investment Bank is the guarantee of success," the EIB representative noted in his speech.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, touched upon the strategy on public debt servicing, macroeconomic stability, the revised 2023-2025 Medium term expenditure framework the program on reducing the RA Government debt burden.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is a European Union (EU) financial institution one of the main functions of which is to provide is to provide long-term financial support to investment programs.
It was founded in 1958 and is currently active not only within the EU member states, but also in more than 150 countries. The EIB focuses on the areas of climate, environment, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), development, cohesion and infrastructure. On February 12, 2008 in Luxembourg and on February 29 in Yerevan, the Republic of Armenia and the EIB signed a Framework Agreement, that regulates the activities of the EIB in the Republic of Armenia. The purpose of the Agreement is to facilitate the financing of investment programs of interest to Armenia with the support of the EIB through loans, guarantees or other mechanisms. The EIB operates in Armenia mainly in the areas of energy, transport, water supply, solid waste management and the environment.
