ArmInfo.The new power unit under construction at the Kursk nuclear power plant could be serve as a standard for Armenia, Armenia's Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure said in an interview with the Public Television.
The minister said that the currently operating power unit of the Armenian NPP is expected to operate until 2036. Relevant documents are being prepared. As regards the construction of a new power unit, it is a 1,200 MW and two power units, 1,000 MW each.
"One could have an impression that it is only the NPP that will generate electric energy in the country. But is it a fleeting impression. We hope for high economic growth rates. Since the new unit is expected to operate for an age-long period, we need to make long-term calculations, especially in the context of affordability of NPP-generated electric energy, which will allow competitive products to be manufactured, with surplus exported to the other countries of the region," Mr Sanosyan said.
