Thirteen of the 59 programmes the Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is implementing are being implemented in Armenia, Dmitry Mariyasin, UNECE Deputy Executive Secretary, stated at his meeting with Armenia's Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan.
Mr Mariyasin highlighted transport and energy cooperation, pointing out a need for relevant international legal acts.
In this context, Minister Sanosyan noted that Armenia's laws are meeting EU standards, but international experts need to be involved. He highlighted the importance of Armenia's cooperation with UNECE, pointing out great potential for expanding cooperation.
The sides also discussed a number of issues related to the energy sector, particularly energy efficiency. Mr Mariyasin informed Minister Sanosyan of the opportunities for cooperation in the mining industry.
The sides exchanged views on the involvement of the Ministry of Territorial Administration in the cooperation under the UNECE programmes.
