ArmInfo. If positive trends in the Armenian economy continue, business activity is expected to grow by 5-7% in 2023. Tatul Manaseryan, doctor of economic sciences, professor, head of the Alternative Research Center, a member of the Eurasian Expert Club, said on January 26 during the Moscow-Yerevan video bridge on he topic: "Actual Issues of Russian-Armenian Strategic Cooperation".
The expert stated that ambiguous tendencies were recorded in the Armenian economy last year. According to him, this is due to the fact that the year was difficult due to the special operation of Russia, and migration flows from the Russian Federation, Belarus and Ukraine, including ethnic Armenians, who came to Armenia, as well as the indirect impact of Western sanctions against Russia.
"Despite these difficulties, we expect about 10% growth in business activity, which is a very impressive figure. Most of it is due to the fact that many Russians preferred Armenia as a place of temporary residence and establishment of business. Not only the IT sector has accepted Russian entrepreneurs, but and other small business sectors, including tourism, service industry. The presence of a large number of immigrants has had a beneficial effect on the development of the business environment in Armenia," the economist said. In this vein, he noted that Armenia ranks second in the list of preferred countries for tourism from Russia. The expert also pointed to the growth of private transfers to Armenia. "As before, more than 60% of the volume of transfers received from abroad falls on the share of the Russian Federation. The total amount is about 4 billion dollars," Manasaryan noted, adding that this fact also has a positive effect on business activity.
Referring to trade and economic relations, he noted that in 2022 the trade turnover between Armenia and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union increased by 80% and will continue to grow
